Lymph System Overview

The lymph system is the body's secondary circulatory system to the arterial, venous blood system. This series of vessels throughout the body carries lymph-a straw-colored fluid that carries proteins, white blood cells and other components of our immune system.

The vessels are semipermeable so that the lymph fluid can pull in cells, toxins, fluids, and microbes, which will be transported to "filtering stations" such as lymph nodes and tonsils. Eventually, the lymph enters back into circulation via the thoracic duct in the chest.

Unlike blood, lymph does not have a pump to push it through the body. Instead, it relies on the contraction of surrounding body muscles to move it along its course. One of the great benefits of exercise and massage is the facilitation of lymph circulation.

Symptoms of Problematic Lymph Systems

Low muscular activity, congested lymph, constricted vessels or incompetent lymph valves can result in stagnation of lymph which may lead to tissue swelling, toxic tissues and organs due to compromised detoxification, microbial overgrowth (infections), fatigue, diminished organ function, pain or disease.

Treatment/Solutions

For best treatment of the lymph system, an integrated approach should be taken, which should include nutrition modification, hydration, detoxification therapies, and either manual lymph drainage techniques or use of the Light Beam Generator (LBG). Manual lymph drainage is performed with special manual techniques that focus on moving lymph and clearing areas of lymph congestion. The LBG helps move lymph but its key purpose is to break up protein clumps that would otherwise make the lymph thicker, less fluid and harder to circulate.

A healthy lymph system is dependent upon lymph that is more fluid and lymph vessels that function properly. Having a healthy lymph system means stronger immunity, better detoxification capacity, and a healthier, less disease-prone body.
