Check out the Natural Horizons website for all of our new video testimonials. "The original intent when I formed NHWC was to bring different specialties and different practitioners together because I knew that health problems were very comprehensive, very integrative, meaning they had to address many issues. So the original design was to bring practitioners together." - Robert Johnson, DMD

Comprehensive Cancer Treatment at NHWC
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, Natural Horizons sat down with Danette Fulk, one of the patients who successfully underwent treatment in our Comprehensive Cancer Care program. We are constantly inspired by the strength and courage of our patients. We hope Danette’s insights will inspire you too. Why did you choose to receive Targeted Low Dose Chemotherapy (Insulin Potentiation Therapy) at Natural Horizons rather than conventional treatment? After researching my options conventionally, I realized the targeted approach of IPT chemotherapy was for me. Conventional pretty much offers "one size fits all" treatment with the only choice being, "You will either need the two drug therapy or three". The three drug therapy being much more dangerous of course because it offers a longer list of potentially devastating side effects. Natural Horizons offered me the Greek blood test that helps pinpoint the most effective drugs and supplements for my tumor cells. We went with the three most effective and only one of those matched what conventional can offer. We also used those drugs at a significantly reduced dose, thus lowering my risk of side effects. It is targeted because of the IPT method. I was able to drive myself home after treatments and that was an almost 2 hour drive. Every week for 10 weeks, I felt fine before treatment and needed no additional drugs to boost my immune system in order to receive the next treatment. Those drugs I hear are now routine with conventional treatments. How was your treatment program customized to meet your individual needs? What type of support did you receive from Natural Horizons? I received nutritional support, which was very thorough and helpful. I also was offered colonics with the understanding that I could help my body (liver and colon) remove the toxins remaining from the chemo drugs. If I could have driven back more than once a week, I would also have done IV Vitamin C treatments. How did you feel while you were under going treatment? Was it different than other cancer therapies you had tried (if any)? I had only very mild symptoms with my stomach and none enough to cause any difficulties. I had a little fatigue and tried to be good about rest and managing stress. Otherwise I felt just fine. I did not lose my hair. I cannot speak for others about the hair loss during conventional treatment of breast cancer but I can share my thoughts. Vanity would have been a factor had I lost my hair because I am human. However for me the loss of hair represents the devastation of what is going on inside the body with the conventional approach which is basically, "kill as many bad guys as possible and hope we don't kill so many of the good guys faster than the bad guys!!!" Now that you have completed your treatment program, what are you most looking forward to? I am more careful with my precious life. I eat really well. I exercise as often as possible and I minimize stress whenever possible. I am grateful for and look forward to every day. I have become even more passionate about prevention!! There is much people can do to avoid breast cancer and no one is sharing that with them. NHWC is Expanding!
Natural Horizons is excited to announce that we are expanding our Center! We have built out the nearly 3000 square feet of adjacent space to us (formerly Ryland Homes), which will house our new infusion center, new laboratory, three new medical offices, a patient kitchen, all complete with a fireplace and big screen TV. The kitchen area will also be used for educational events, cooking classes, juicing, etc.
When asked what he was looking to create with the new space Pete Ewens, our President and CEO stated: "When I first sat down with Bob Dunning, our architect, he asked me: Pete what is the feel you want with this space? I said simply: "It has to be like home". Bob asked: "What's home to you?" Pete replied: "When I come home, I change into my sweats, come down to my family room, light a fire in the fireplace, grab a glass of wine, sit in my favorite chair and read the newspaper and watch the news on TV. That's home to me." Bob said: "Then let's create that". We invite each of you to visit to see if you think we have achieved what we set out to do.
Stay tuned for more information about an upcoming open house. Please feel free to come by and check out our new space anytime!

This has been a missing piece at our center, and we are excited to begin weaving into all of our programs. Ryan is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and has nine years of varied medical and psychiatric nursing experience. Ryan practices from an understanding that we are a mind, body, spirit being and that attending to one’s mental health is a critical component in realizing optimum total health. Her background in medicine combined with advanced training in psychiatry makes her a unique provider and valuable addition to our integrative team. Using an individualized approach, Ryan works with each client and supports him/her in a process that addresses the root cause of distress, not one that merely treats or masks the symptoms.
