Featured Service

Live Pain Free with Laser Therapy

Laser Therapy is one of the many services offered at Natural Horizons.  We sat down with Vishal Verma, DC, to learn more about this effective technology and how it can help alleviate chronic pain.

How can Low-Intensity Laser Therapy (LILT) help with pain?
LILT is a non invasive approach designed to help pain by healing the cause of the pain at its source.  For example, pain in the leg with tingling and numbness usually stems from the lower back.  We would apply LILT to the lower back to “fix” the problem at the source of the injury.

How will LILT help the source of the pain?
LILT helps the injured area, to which it is applied, to heal at a faster rate.  It does this by stimulating the inured cells in the area to metabolize faster, thereby creating a greater immune response in the injured area.  Greater healing response equals faster healing times and complete healing, rather than just controlling symptoms the way pain medication does.

Are there any side effects to LILT?
To date, there are no known side effects to LILT.  The healing powers of light are all positive and there is no harmful radiation involved.  Each individual being treated is thoroughly examined before deciding if LILT will be helpful to their healing process.

What's New

Fall Referral Contest!

At Natural Horizons, one of the things we strive for each day is excellence in all that we do for our patients.  As a testament to that, many of our new patients come from our current, happy and satisfied patients. We hope that you are pleased with the Center and gratified by the results you have achieved.

As our way of saying "thank you" to all of you who refer patients to us, we are holding a referral raffle this fall.  The raffle works like this:

1.  Refer someone new to Natural Horizons and receive raffle tickets to our drawing for a 46" Sony Bravia LCD Digital Color TV!
2.  Refer 1 new patient, receive 1 raffle ticket
Refer 2 new patients, receive 3 raffle tickets
Refer 3 new patients, receive 5 raffle tickets

The raffle drawing will be held just after Thanksgiving.  See Lori or Laura at the front desk or your practitioner for raffle cards.  Make sure you fill in your name and have your referral bring the card in with them to their first appointment.  That's all there is to it!  Good luck!

Monthly Recipe

Pumpkin Bread
Serve this honey-sweetened bread, made with whole wheat pastry flour and oat bran, for breakfast or as a dessert or snack. Thanks to Whole Foods for this great recipe!

Ingredients:
Canola oil cooking spray
1 1/2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
1/4 cup oat bran or wheat germ
2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons cane sugar
1/3 cup canola or sunflower oil
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup milk
1 1/4 cups fresh or canned pumpkin puree
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch loaf pan with canola oil cooking spray and set aside.  In a large bowl, whisk together flour, oat bran, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a second large bowl, combine sugar, oil, honey, milk, pumpkin, egg and vanilla. Add this mixture to flour mixture and stir until just combined. Fold in walnuts.
Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and bake until cooked through and a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean, about 1 hour. Cool for 15 minutes on a wire rack then remove from pan and set aside to let cool completely.
