U.S. City Bans Dental Amalgam

On October 19, 2010 in a Costa Mesa, CA., City Council meeting, the Monahan Resolution banning the use of dental mercury was enacted.  Dental amalgam fillings or silver fillings are made of 50% mercury. This resolution calls on federal and state agencies to eliminate amalgam, and asks dentists in Costa Mesa to switch to non-toxic alternatives.

Costa Mesa, CA has set the precedent by becoming the first city in the United States to pass a resolution to immediately ban the use of mercury amalgam fillings in dentistry.  You can see the videos taken at the council meeting and read more information about how you can get involved to make this happen in our community by going to Improving the quality of dentistry as it relates to the whole body has been a long time passion of Dr. Robert Johnson here at Natural Horizons.  He's very excited about this precedent event.
