Allergies are abnormal reactions by the immune system when exposed to a substance, most of which come from the environment, food, supplements or medicine. Such responses include rashes, headaches, stuffy sinuses, runny nose, sneezing, nausea, diarrhea, and dizziness.
Although overt allergies occur in roughly one in eight people, subtle allergic reactions or sensitivities occur in more than half the population. These subtle reactions are not true allergies in which specific immune markers are present, but are sensitivities in which other immune responses can be documented. These reactions are now thought by many practitioners to be an underlying factor in most chronic health problems because they so greatly compromise the body's immune, autonomic nervous, and detoxification systems.
Food allergies/sensitivities irritate the gastrointestinal system and, as a result, the immune system, thereby affecting the entire body. Allergic reactions/sensitivities are responses to an impaired immune system, which is often caused by an overload of toxins, which include exposure to high-dose vaccinations combined with steroids and antibiotics over time. A high concentration of immune cells line the gastrointestinal system, so when the GI lining is disturbed the immune system is compromised and allergies develop.
Other Causes & Factors
- Genetic- a predisposition to allergies exists if both parents have allergies shortly after birth and/or develop allergies and/or Type 1 diabetes.
- Repetitive Dieting- chronic intake of the same foods results in allergies to those frequently eaten foods.
- Yeast Overgrowth- overgrowth of yeast in the gut damages gut lining resulting in the development of multiple allergies to certain foods.
- Leaky Gut- allows large food particles into the body, which leads to allergies to those substances
Combined Therapies = Best Results
Allergy treatment is usually most effective when combined therapies are used to help normalize the immune system and detoxify the body. By normalizing the immune system, the abnormal immune reaction of allergic response subsides. For example, a therapy mix, which might include acupuncture, homeopathy and digestion enhancement, all work together to improve the gastrointestinal system so that offending foods cannot pass across the gut lining to cause allergies.
A fairly recent breakthrough in allergy/sensitivity treatment is a therapy called Allergy Elimination Technique (AET). It involves uncoupling the control of the immune response by the autonomic nervous system from the actual immune system reaction so that no allergic response or its side effects occur. AET is sometimes recommended as a co-therapy in the treatment of most chronic illnesses since allergic response irritates the person, creates excessive inflammation in the person and interferes with detoxification.
