Infection is the presence of microbes in an area of the body. These microbes include viruses, bacteria, fungae (e.g. yeast), parasites, and mycoplasm.
In addition to the damage they cause to body tissues and systems, infectious, pathologic microbes are also found as a factor of our nation's chronic diseases such as MS, Alzheimers, cancer, heart disease, irritable bowel syndrome and diabetes; another reason why it is critical that any treatment of any infection include antimicrobial therapy directed at the microbe, immune-system enhancement, and normalization of the body's inner environment.
Enemies of Health
Many factors undermine our body's natural ability to fight microbial infection, including stress, unhealthy life style and nutrition (e.g. high sugar and chemical intake), resistance to antibiotics, and heavy-metal toxicity (e.g. mercury, aluminum, nickel which compromise cells and "shield" microbes from attack by white blood cells).
How Microbes Proliferate in the Body
- A microbe enters the body, through the mouth for example, and then proliferates because the body's defense mechanisms, including the immune system, are overcome and are unable to subdue these microorganisms. An example is food poisoning from the Salmonella bacteria.
- The proliferation of an existing microorganism in the body due to stress, trauma or the use of medication. Example: a patient takes an antibiotic intended to control an infection and the antibiotic concurrently kills the good microbes in the gut, which are needed to suppress yeast overgrowth, and this leads to a yeast infection.
- Result of a biological process called pleomorphism ("many forms"), a process originally researched by Gunter Enderlin in the 1930s and 40s, where pathologic or disease-forming microbes evolve from good, healthy microbes when incubated in a pathogenic environment in body organs or tissues. Factors that promote this health-threatening process include pH (acidity/alkalinity), toxicity (heavy metal, chemicals, pesticides, metabolic waste), poor circulation and reduced oxygenation.
The list of infecting microbes is vast and includes the family of herpes viruses, the hepatitis family of viruses, the spirocate causing Lymes (Babesia), streptococcus and staphalococcus bacteria, the human papilloma viruses that cause many cancers, plus a myriad of parasites and fungal microbes.
How Healthy Bodies Respond to Infection
Ideally, when a body encounters disease-forming microbes, it responds by turning up various components of its immune system, be it the advent of certain cells (T and B cells, macrophages) or, as in inflammation, change the local environment to mobilize various microbial fighting chemicals. However, if these defense mechanisms are compromised or ineffective, outside intervention is necessary to prevent infecting microorganisms from taking over parts of the body.
Antibiotics are mainstream medicine's default solution for all infections; yet, they should be prescriped cautiously, with an understanding of their adverse consequences and other options.
Although antibiotics can do much good in some situations, they can also cause problems in other situations. They kill good bacteria which can lead to yeast overgrowth when good bacteria are no longer present to suppress the yeast. Antibiotics can push many infections deeper into the body (see homotoxicology) resulting in more complicated diseases. Antibiotics function by removing the cell membrane off a bacterial cell. The few bacterial cells that survive have been shown to be carcinogenic (cancer causing).
Antibiotics are not useful against viruses, fungi and many parasites yet they are prescribed frequently for these infections.
Non-Antibiotic Therapies (partial list)

Infections respond to a normalization of the body's chemistry in conjunction with removal of the infection source.
