FDA Report Details 16 New Deaths Related To HPV
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates government agencies, announced last week that it has received new documentation from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), using the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), giving detailed reports of adverse reactions to the vaccination for human papillomavirus (HPV), Gardasil.
Back in 2008 CBS evening news did a special report on this vaccination. The reporter brought up the fact that as of July 2008 there had been nearly 8,000 adverse event reports and more than a dozen deaths reported. During that evenings report, Merck, the makers of Gardasil, made the following statement. "We have found no connection between these deaths and Gardasil. We still recommend the vaccine and feel it is an important vaccine for the health of women." The CDC responded by saying, "Less than 7 percent reported adverse events were considered serious, about half of the average for vaccines overall. Again, a report to (the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) does not mean there is a connection between the vaccine and the report. It means the event took place following vaccination."
Now, two years later we find that the number of adverse events logged against the drug continues to climb as does the number of related deaths. In the reports obtained by Judicial Watch were the following, "The adverse reactions include 16 new deaths (including four suicides) between May 2009 and September 2010. The FDA also produced 789 “serious” reports, with 213 cases resulting in permanent disability and 25 resulting in a diagnosis of Guillain Barre Syndrome."
