Cancer Survivors Day – VA Cancer Specialists
NHWC recognizes National Cancer Survivors Day
This past Sunday, June 4th, 2017 marked the 30th annual National Cancer Survivors Day celebration. This day is an unforgettable Celebration of Life for anyone who has been touched by cancer. Cancer survivors, caregivers, healthcare professionals, family members, and friends – pay tribute to those who are living with a history of cancer and to bring attention to the ongoing challenges they still face, but, most importantly, to celebrate life.
Thanks in part to medical breakthroughs, cancer survivors are living longer, more active lives than they ever have before. And that’s something to celebrate. However, survivors still face ongoing hardships because of their disease.
On this day citizens across the globe stand with the cancer survivors in their community and make a commitment to lessening this burden of cancer survivorship. Let it be a celebration of how abundant life after cancer can be. But may it also be a call to action for more research, resources, and legislation to improve the quality of life of cancer survivors.
Who is a cancer survivor? – VA Cancer Specialists
The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation defines a survivor as anyone living with a history of cancer – from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life. National Cancer Survivors Day offers your community an opportunity to show that it has a valuable and vital cancer survivor population, as well as to make a commitment to improving the lives of cancer survivors.
