Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer in men and the third most common cause of men’s cancer death. There were nearly 168,000 new cases of prostate cancer in 2016; however, only 46,000 men died from the disease. Prostate cancer is an aggressive disease that develops when a man’s prostate gland starts to develop abnormally.

What is Prostate Cancer?

The prostate is a walnut-sized gland within the male reproductive system. It is responsible for producing sperm and fluids that help to ejaculate semen. The prostate gland also produces a hormone called PSA.

Along with the production of these hormones and fluids, prostate cancer can also begin to grow and become abnormal.
